Project Description

Grill cauliflower steak

Ingredients:

  • 1 big cauliflower
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 slices fresh lemon
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp. Himalayan salt
  • Vegan mayonnaise
  • Homemade BBQ sauce ->> link to the video with recipe
  • Fresh parsley

Step by step:

  1. Cut out the sides of the cauliflower leaving the middle part with the stem intact. Then cut the middle of the cauliflower into two steaks. Each of them should be connected to the stem because that is how they hold in one piece.
  2. In a heat-resistant dish add water, chopped garlic, bay leaves, lemon slices, and salt. Mix it and gently place two cauliflower steaks into the liquid. Cover it with the lid or aluminum foil and bake in 175°C (350°F) for 30 – 40 minutes.

Note: The cauliflower should be cooked through, but still a bit firm. If it’s too soft, it will fall apart during grilling.

  1. Very gently remove cauliflower steaks from the liquid and let it cool a bit. Once cooled brush each of them with a homemade barbecue sauce.
  2. Gently place them on the grill and grill on both sides. If you use gas grill, grill them with 200 °C for approx. 5 minutes on each side
