Why would you want a healthy workplace?

Forgive me if I’m being blunt here but do you know the leading cause of death in the world? It is cardiovascular diseases, with an estimated 17.9 million deaths in 2016, representing 31% of all global deaths. 37% of premature deaths (under 70) are caused by CVDs. Okay, okay, that’s the world and not Hungary. Or is it? Unfortunately, it sure is. 60% of the adult population’s cholesterol level is above the limit value, causing cardiovascular diseases, so your employees, especially if following an unhealthy diet, could very well be impacted. However, one’s cholesterol level is easily reducible by choosing the right foods. A balanced plant-based diet of whole grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits can help prevent not only cardiovascular diseases, but diabetes, cancer, and other chronic diseases as well. What a healthy employee also means is less sick leave, increased productivity and deeper employee commitment.

How can you encourage healthy habits at your company?

You can make many small steps, such as providing fruits, offering healthier options at your canteen or supporting sport activities, but if you’d like to step up your game, I can help you with my services developed for companies.

Smart Cooking Workshop (SCW)

The SCW is a 3-hour plant-based cooking workshop for the minimum of 6 and the maximum of 10 people, held in my home restaurant and cooking school. The workshop is a mixture of demonstration and hands-on cooking with plenty of tips, tricks, talking and tasting. We start with a 45-minute introduction to batch cooking and meal prep (the base of SCW) where I talk about the basics, how to create a meal plan, the ingredients used and I share many tips on how to reduce time spent with shopping for groceries, cooking, doing the dishes and much more. Then we get to work and prepare 10-14 different meals in about 90 minutes, using the same 10-15 inexpensive ingredients. Everybody is active during the class and gains a hands-on experience in batch cooking. The best part comes when we sit down and feast. In the last 45 minutes of the workshop we just enjoy what we’ve created, chat, have fun, discuss any questions the participants might have. After the workshop the participants also receive my e-book with 19 healthy plant-based recipes, shopping lists, tips and tricks, a 7-day meal plan, the basics of the workshop and some inspiration to keep going.

Healthy Workplace Project (HWP)

The HWP is based on the award-winning Food for Life program designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. The curriculum primarily focuses on the lifesaving effects of healthful eating, along with featuring nutrition education, cooking demonstrations, food samples, and supportive group discussions. Depending on the client’s needs, I can offer support for the company’s management on incorporating affordable healthful choices in the food services, as well as guidance on healthful dining choices if there food services are not offered at the company’s location. Staff members who participate, will discover the world of health through general topics ranging from digestion to blood pressure. We reveal the clinical benefits of a plant-based diet, such as lower cholesterol, better diabetes control, and lower blood pressure, as well as improvements in energy and mood. The classes can be hosted at your choice of venue or at my home restaurant and cooking school.
